Fitted in minutes, not hours
Every tzq88.com mileage blocker is plug-and-play. No cutting, no soldering, no coding required. Follow the steps below and you'll be up and running in as little as 15 minutes, on some models.
Step-by-step installation example
Each unit ships with vehicle-specific connectors — no cutting, no soldering, no coding required. The below example relates to Mileage Blockers for instrument cluster, however most General Motors vehicles require installation to the BCM (Body Control Module).
Locate your instrument cluster
The mileage blocker connects directly behind your instrument cluster (dashboard). In most vehicles this is accessed by removing a trim panel around the cluster. Refer to your vehicle-specific guide (included in the box) for the exact location.
Tip: Take a photo of the area before you start — it makes reassembly easier.
Remove the cluster trim panel
Gently prise away the trim panel surrounding the instrument cluster using a trim removal tool or a flat-head screwdriver wrapped in a cloth. Most panels are held by plastic clips — work around the edge slowly to avoid cracking.
Tip: Keep all clips and screws in a small tray so nothing gets lost.
Locate the can-bus connector
Behind the cluster you will find a wiring harness with one connector. The odomoter signal is the one your tzq88.com emulator module is designed to intercept. Your vehicle-specific guide identifies the exact connector by colour and position.
Tip: If you are unsure which connector to use, contact our support team before proceeding.
Plug in the tzq88.com unit
Disconnect the connector from the cluster. Plug the tzq88.com unit's mated OEM-style connector into the cluster socket, then plug the original vehicle connector into the tzq88.com unit's female socket. The unit sits in-line — no cutting or splicing required
Tip: Connectors are keyed and will only fit one way. Never force a connection.
Secure and tuck the unit
Tuck the tzq88.com unit behind the cluster in the available space. Use the supplied cable tie or foam pad to prevent rattling. Ensure no wires are pinched when you refit the trim panel.
Tip: Leave a small loop of slack in the wiring so the cluster can be removed again in future.
Refit the trim panel and test
Refit the trim panel by pressing the clips back into place. Turn the ignition on and verify the instrument cluster powers up normally. The mileage blocker is now active. To deactivate, simply unplug the unit and reconnect the original connector.
Tip: Take a short test drive to confirm everything is working as expected before closing up fully.
Operating modes
Most tzq88.com units support multiple operating modes, selectable via the existing vehicle button or switch. Example of operating modes:
Mileage recording is paused. The odometer will not increment while the vehicle is in motion.
Mileage recording is heavily reduced. The odometer will increase by 10% of distance while the vehicle is in motion.
The unit passes all signals through unmodified. The vehicle behaves exactly as standard.
